When teenage reporter April O’Neil has a clandestine meeting with Tsunade, the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village, it garners the attention of Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi. They aren’t the only ones who are wondering what the two women were discussing, though. The sinister Foot Clan have their own interest in April’s visit, as they think she might hold the valuable information on mutation research being conducted by the scientist Baxter Stockman. With April caught between the forces of the Hidden Leaf Village and the Foot Clan, it can’t be long before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show up to lend her a hand!

Working with acclaimed manga publisher Viz Entertainment, IDW is pulling together two of the most popular comics in the world to bring you the four-issue comic book event of 2024!

Let me just say—this is the crossover I didn’t know I needed, but now that it’s here, I can’t stop thinking about it. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles x Naruto #1 throws together the ninja worlds of two iconic franchises, and the result is pure magic.

The story begins with April O’Neil meeting Tsunade from the Hidden Leaf Village, and things spiral from there. Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi get pulled into the mix, but so does the Foot Clan, who are after some shady mutation research from Baxter Stockman. Before you know it, the Turtles show up to back up April, and everything just clicks in a way that feels fresh yet nostalgic.

The artwork by Hendry Prasetya is absolutely stunning—bold lines, dynamic layouts, and just enough flair to honor both TMNT and Naruto styles without favoring one over the other. Jorge Jiménez’s cover art is equally fantastic and will probably catch your eye right away on our new comic book wall. Caleb Goellner’s writing nails the tone, making the whole thing both fun and engaging.

The best part? Kakashi still steals every scene he’s in. No surprise there, right? The story feels like a mash-up of the original Naruto arcs with just enough Turtle flavor to keep you hooked. I’m already hyped for the next issue because if this start is any sign, this series is going to be a blast.
