THERE WILL BE A NEW SYMBIOTE ON THE LOOSE!
Comic legend PETER DAVID (THE INCREDIBLE HULK, SPIDER-MAN 2099) triumphantly returns to pen the next epic chapter in the Symbiote Saga alongside artist ROGE ANTONIO (CARNAGE). THIS TIME, set your time circuits ahead to the techno-dystopian future of 2099! Miguel O’Hara, A.K.A. SPIDER-MAN 2099, is facing a hostile takeover – of his own body! Kron Stone, the VENOM of 2099, wages an all-out assault on Alchemax, and the only hope of stopping him lies with the power awakened by a top-secret project gone terribly wrong. What must Miguel sacrifice to seal the bond with his new symbiote – his body? His mind? His very soul?!

Peter David and Roge Antonio’s collaboration in Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 #1 revitalizes the futuristic landscape with exhilarating storytelling and dynamic artwork. Returning to the familiar realm of Spider-Man 2099, David immerses readers in a gripping narrative that seamlessly intertwines with the beloved character’s past exploits.

As a long time reader of Spider-Man 2099, I found immense satisfaction in revisiting Miguel O’Hara’s adventures within the original 2099 universe. David expertly captures the essence of the character, offering a nostalgic yet refreshing take on the techno-dystopian future of 2099. The issue’s slow start serves as a deliberate homage, allowing readers to reacquaint themselves with Miguel’s journey before plunging into an electrifying plot brimming with unexpected twists.

Despite minor discrepancies in character designs, notably with Lyla and Conchata, Antonio’s art admirably captures the essence of this futuristic world. The action sequences are rendered with palpable energy, heightening the tension as Miguel grapples with the emergence of a new symbiote threat. While some inconsistencies may distract the discerning eye, the overall visual presentation remains compelling and immersive.

David’s return to Spider-Man 2099 heralds a promising continuation of the saga, reigniting excitement for the character’s future exploits. His adept handling of Miguel’s character arc instills hope for further exploration, perhaps even the prospect of an ongoing series. Moreover, the potential convergence of other familiar faces from the 2099 universe holds tantalizing possibilities for future storylines.

In light of recent challenges faced by Peter David, It makes me happy whenever I see his name on a new title, and his return to form with Symbiote Spider-Man 2099 #1 is truly gratifying. Marvel fans can only hope for continued dedication and care in nurturing the 2099 universe, ensuring a coherent and captivating canon for fans old and new alike. As the symbiote saga unfolds, anticipation mounts for the thrilling adventures that lie ahead.
