Guest-starring X-FACTOR’s FRENZY!

Storm #1 blew me away right from the start. Ororo Munroe, Earth’s mightiest mutant, is finally headlining her own solo series, and the story does not disappoint. From her rich history as a thief, goddess, X-Man, and queen, she’s now stepping into her role as an Avenger, and it’s incredible to watch her juggle the weight of the world on her shoulders.

This issue kicks off with Storm responding to a catastrophic meltdown at a nuclear facility in Oklahoma City. As she’s pulled from her Sanctuary in Atlanta, we get a front-row seat to the moral dilemmas she faces, and it’s clear that her iron will is about to be seriously tested. Plus, having Frenzy from X-Factor make an appearance adds another layer to the action.

The artwork by Lucas Werneck is stunning, with cover art by Mateus Manhanini the art practically jumps off of the page. It’s hard to tear your eyes away from the vibrant illustrations—this book is visually striking, and every panel feels alive. The pacing keeps you engaged, with twists and turns that keep you on your toes. I loved how it balanced intense action with emotional depth, showing us not just Storm’s powers but her empathy and resolve in the face of impossible choices.

By the end, I was hooked. The cliffhanger is a game-changer, setting up what looks like an epic journey for Storm and the future of mutantkind. For me, this is hands down the best #1 issue of the “From the Ashes” run so far. The way it showcases Storm as a character, both in terms of her power and her humanity, is something I’ve been waiting to see for a long time.

I can’t wait for issue #2. If this first installment is any indication, Storm’s solo series is going to be a must-follow, and I hope Marvel keeps giving her the spotlight she deserves. You can find Storm #1 on the new comic book wall, and I’d highly recommend adding it to your pull list.
