MARC SPECTOR… BACK FROM THE BEYOND! As an avatar and agent of the Egyptian God of the Moon, Khonshu, former mercenary MARC SPECTOR has died and come back to life on more than one occasion. To the ignorant, his fate beyond death’s grasp may seem idyllic, but being chosen as a Fist of Khonshu comes with a heavy cost! And, like bones in a street fight, Marc Spector, and the multitudes he contains, may be about to break!
So, let’s talk about Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #1. I gotta say, this issue is a fantastic start to a new era for the character. Jed MacKay’s writing pairs perfectly with Alessandro Cappuccio’s incredible artwork, which really captures the intensity of Moon Knight. Every panel feels like it’s charged with energy, and the way Detective Flint returns? A seriously welcome surprise for longtime fans.
If you’ve never picked up a Moon Knight comic before, this is honestly a great place to dive in. The characters are introduced in a way that won’t leave you scratching your head. You’ll feel right at home with Marc Spector’s world, even if you’re just joining the chaos now. Plus, MacKay is really putting that sense of fear and danger back into Moon Knight—he’s defying death once again and seems as strong as ever. That whole idea of being Khonshu’s avatar comes with a lot of weight, and it’s clear Marc’s journey isn’t going to be an easy one.
The story sticks to its street-level roots, which I appreciate—nothing too wild or out there. It keeps things grounded while also being a nice entry point for anyone looking to jump into Moon Knight’s adventures.
MacKay, Cappuccio, and Rosenberg continue to be a fantastic team, and this issue definitely left me excited for what’s next. Highly recommend checking it out, especially if you’ve been looking for a good starting point with Moon Knight.
