Writer Kyle Starks and artist Kyle Hotz deliver an unapologetically chaotic, skull-smashing experience that perfectly captures Lobo’s brutal, no-holds-barred spirit. From the moment you crack open the pages, you’re hit with the full throttle of DC’s biggest bastich doing what he does best—leaving destruction in his wake, crotch-kicking anyone in his path, and taking absolutely no prisoners.
This comic doesn’t pull any punches, from the hilariously crude dialogue to the no-holds-barred action sequences. Starks gets Lobo’s voice right, injecting the character with all the inappropriate quips and over-the-top bravado that fans of the Main Man have come to expect. And Kyle Hotz? His art absolutely crushes it, bringing every brutal moment to life with a grimy, gritty style that suits the tone perfectly. The cover alone grabs your attention, but it’s the interior art where Hotz really shines. It’s chaotic, raw, and everything a Lobo comic should be.
I had my worries going in, as we’ve seen Lobo stories miss the mark in recent years, but this issue really impressed me. The “Murdercrotch Slaughterface” moment had me laughing out loud, and it’s the kind of absurdity you want from a Lobo book. This isn’t just a tribute to the character, it’s a riotous return to form.
Honestly, the collaboration of these two Kyles feels like a perfect match for Lobo, and I’m excited to see what comes next. If this special is any indicator, we’re in for a wild ride. Bring on a new series—Lobo fans need this!
