HISTORIC FIRST MEETING! Your favorite foul-mouthed adolescent, KIDPOOL, is back in comic book form starring alongside the biggest debut character in recent memory, SPIDER-BOY! Will the Adolescent-Arachnid be able to keep the Murderous Middle-Grader from causing the return of the Comics Code? UNLIKELY! But Bailey is going to try! Don’t miss the comic that every kid and kid-at-heart in America is going to sneakily read under their sheets with a flashlight!

If you’re looking for a comic that’s absolutely off-the-wall in the best way, Kidpool & Spider-Boy #1 is the kind of crazy fun you need. This issue marks the first-ever meeting between the irreverent Kidpool and the up-and-coming Spider-Boy, and trust me, it’s a pairing as wild as it sounds.

The story, written by Christopher Yost, hits a perfect balance of humor and absurdity, especially since Kidpool’s over-the-top antics are paired with Spider-Boy’s more grounded (but still hilarious) attempts to manage the chaos. Watching an 11-year-old version of Deadpool drop references instead of a full-grown mercenary makes it all feel fresh and even funnier.

The villain is just as ridiculous as you’d hope for in a story like this, and the dialogue between the two leads is spot on for their ages—snarky, playful, and completely entertaining. It’s ridiculous, yes, but in a way that works.

If you’re into comics that don’t take themselves too seriously and are just a blast to read, this one is worth checking out. I found myself laughing more than I expected, and honestly, it’s perfect for when you need a break from heavier stories.

Kidpool & Spider-Boy #1 is available on our weekly new comic book wall.
