A NEW, BRUTAL ERA BEGINS! Roxxon and AIM team up to take on Stark Unlimited! But they’re ready for the old Tony Stark. This one? He’s a lot angrier than he used to be. Iron Man is going to war! New armor, old enemies, and unbelievable twists abound in this fresh take on a fury-powered Iron Man from Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Spencer Ackerman and groundbreaking artist Julius Ohta!

If you’ve been waiting for Iron Man to get his hands dirty again, this issue doesn’t disappoint. “Iron Man #1” by Spencer Ackerman and Julius Ohta kicks things off with Tony Stark facing off against Roxxon (you can also check out my review for Roxxon Presents: Thor #1) and AIM—only this time, Tony’s a lot angrier, and it shows. From his new armor to his explosive attitude, Stark feels different, more intense, and it’s clear this run is going to push him to the edge.

What really stood out to me in this issue is the way Ackerman weaves in references to Tony’s past, blending his business empire with the superhero action. This isn’t just Iron Man flying in to save the day—it’s about power struggles in the boardroom, old enemies resurfacing, and Stark dealing with it all while being practically irate about the shady operations he’s up against. That fury really drives the issue, and it makes for an exciting read.

Ohta’s art took me by surprise in the best way possible. Besides Hellverine #1, I wasn’t super familiar with his previous work, but here? It’s excellent. The action scenes pop, and the detail in Tony’s new armor is a visual treat. The villains are designed with a cool flair, and the whole thing feels like a fresh take on Iron Man while staying true to the character.

If you’re into Iron Man or looking for a comic with high-stakes conflict, this one’s definitely worth picking up. You can find Iron Man #1 on our new comic book wall, and it’s ready to be added to your weekly pull list!
