The Shinigami lord returns to threaten both Earth and the Darkstalker realm! But Jedah isn’t the only one with a dangerous scheme, as the parasitic being known as the ShadowSoul has its own plans for power. It’s a demonic duel that finds both Night Warriors and World Warriors caught in its wave of destruction!

The realm of Darkstalkers has long captivated fans with its unique blend of horror and combat, and the latest comic release, “Darkstalkers: Jedah #1,” is no exception. With the masterful strokes of Alberto Alburquerque bringing the characters to life and the striking cover art by Panzer, this issue penned by Tim Seeley is a visual feast that beckons readers into a world where the supernatural reigns supreme.

Released by Udon Entertainment on April 17th, 2024, this narrative arc resurrects the menacing Shinigami lord, Jedah Dohma, to once again cast his ominous shadow over Earth and the Darkstalker realm. The plot thickens with the introduction of the ShadowSoul, a parasitic entity with ambitions that rival Jedah’s own. This sets the stage for a cataclysmic showdown that ensnares both Night Warriors and World Warriors in a maelstrom of chaos and power struggles.

Jedah, the dark messiah with a sartorial sense echoing the Grim Reaper, is depicted with a flair that honors his video game origins. His muscular silhouette, accentuated by a body suit, and the bat-like headdress that shrouds his visage, are rendered with a meticulous attention to detail that fans will appreciate. The comic does not shy away from the character’s macabre signature, showcasing his gory moves with a visceral intensity that is both thrilling and chilling.

The comic’s narrative does justice to the legacy of Darkstalkers, weaving a tale that is both fresh and familiar. It pays homage to the series’ roots while charting new territory, ensuring that long-time fans and newcomers to the Darkstalkers lore will find something to enjoy. As a long time fan Jedah was never a favorite character of mine as I favored characters like Anakaris, Hsien-Ko, and Lord Raptor, each with their own distinctive charm and combat style, who in my opinion layers to the already rich tapestry of the Darkstalker universe, but Jedah is still a very cool character and this issue is well worth the review.

“Darkstalkers: Jedah #1” is a compelling addition to the franchise, offering a narrative that is as dark and intricate as the character it revolves around. It’s a visual and storytelling triumph that captures the essence of what makes Darkstalkers an enduring series. Whether you play the games,  read the comics, or are just discovering the dark allure of this world, this comic is a journey into the heart of darkness that is not to be missed.

Darkstalkers: Jedah #1 is available on our weekly new comic book wall.
