Where does he come from? And what horrors is he planning to unleash that will rock the world-and maybe the universe-to its core? Red-Hot writer Joshua Williamson and artist Andrea Milana kick off the second of four action-packed miniseries that will introduce the best and worst humanity has to offer in the Energon Universe.

Cobra Commander #1 is a thrilling start to a new mini-series that explores the origin and motivation of one of the most iconic villains in pop culture. Joshua Williamson, who also writes the excellent Duke series, delivers a compelling story that shows how Cobra Commander rose from a humble scientist to a ruthless leader with a vision to change the world using the alien substance known as Energon. Andrea Milana and Annalisa Leoni provide stunning artwork that captures the action, emotion, and mystery of the story, as well as the sci-fi elements of the Energon Universe.

The issue begins with a bang, as Cobra Commander makes his presence known in a brutal way, showing that he is not someone to be messed with. We then get a flashback to his past, where we learn more about his background, his relationship with his brother, and his obsession with Energon. Williamson does a great job of balancing the character development and the plot progression, as we see how Cobra Commander’s actions have consequences that shape his destiny.

Milana and Leoni create a dynamic and immersive visual experience, with detailed and expressive characters, vivid and varied settings, and explosive and exciting action scenes. The colors are vibrant and contrast well with the darker tones of the story, creating a striking aesthetic.
